Connect ChatGPT

Add LeadsAgent as an app in ChatGPT.

Your workspace’s permissions apply: on Business, Enterprise and Edu, an admin may need to allow custom MCP servers first.

Set up with your AI assistant

Paste the prompt into ChatGPT. It includes setup steps and a read-only connection check.

ChatGPT — Web (chatgpt.com): sign in with LeadsAgent (recommended)

ChatGPT in the browser. It has no API-key header field, so it uses sign-in only.

ChatGPT offers OAuth, no-auth and mixed modes. LeadsAgent requires OAuth. The setup has no arbitrary X-API-Key header field.

  1. On chatgpt.com, open Plugins. Click the plus button, then “Add custom MCP server”.
  2. Enter the name LeadsAgent and, if you like, a description. Under “Connection”, paste this address into “Server URL”.
    Server URL
    https://leadsagent.io/mcp/v1
  3. Choose “OAuth”. ChatGPT registers itself with LeadsAgent; leave any client ID fields empty.
  4. Read the risk warning and select “I understand and want to continue”. Then select “Create as a plugin”.
  5. Find LeadsAgent in your personal plugins (or in the workspace where you created it) and install it. Sign in to LeadsAgent and approve access when asked.
  6. In a chat, type @ in the prompt box, pick LeadsAgent, and describe the leads you want. ChatGPT asks you to confirm before LeadsAgent starts a task; you can approve for the rest of the conversation.

ChatGPT — Desktop app: sign in with LeadsAgent (recommended)

The ChatGPT desktop app for Windows and macOS. Its MCP servers live in ~/.codex/config.toml, shared with the Codex CLI and IDE extension.

  1. Open Settings → MCP servers → Add server.
  2. Choose Streamable HTTP. Enter the name leadsagent and this URL. Click Save, then Restart.
    Server URL
    https://leadsagent.io/mcp/v1
  3. Click Authenticate next to leadsagent.
  4. A browser opens. Sign in with your LeadsAgent account and approve access.
  5. Type /mcp in the composer. leadsagent is in the list.

    /mcp

ChatGPT — Desktop app: use an API key

  1. On the LeadsAgent setup page, select “Create an API key”. Name it for this app and set its expiry and limits. Copy it once; it starts with la_.
  2. Set LEADSAGENT_API_KEY in the environment used by this app. Restart the app so it reads the variable. Keep the value out of chats and shared files.
    System environment
    LEADSAGENT_API_KEY
  3. Open ~/.codex/config.toml (Windows: %USERPROFILE%\.codex\config.toml) and add this block. The app sends the key as a bearer token.
    ~/.codex/config.toml
    [mcp_servers.leadsagent]
    url = "https://leadsagent.io/mcp/v1"
    bearer_token_env_var = "LEADSAGENT_API_KEY"
  4. Restart the app. Type /mcp in the composer to check leadsagent is listed.
