Connect Cursor

Add the remote MCP server to Cursor.

Set up with your AI assistant

Paste the prompt into Cursor. It includes setup steps and a read-only connection check.

Cursor — Editor: sign in with LeadsAgent (recommended)

The Cursor desktop editor.

  1. Open .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json for all projects. Add this entry under mcpServers.
    mcp.json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "leadsagent": {
          "url": "https://leadsagent.io/mcp/v1"
        }
      }
    }
  2. Restart or reload Cursor if needed. When Cursor shows “Needs login”, click it, sign in with your LeadsAgent account and approve access.
  3. Enable LeadsAgent under Customize. To troubleshoot, open the Output panel (Ctrl+Shift+U or Cmd+Shift+U) and select “MCP Logs”.

Cursor — Editor: use an API key

  1. On the LeadsAgent setup page, select “Create an API key”. Name it for this app and set its expiry and limits. Copy it once; it starts with la_.
  2. Set LEADSAGENT_API_KEY in the environment used by this app. Restart the app so it reads the variable. Keep the value out of chats and shared files.
    Terminal
    LEADSAGENT_API_KEY
  3. Open ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or .cursor/mcp.json inside one project (create the file if needed), and add this entry. Cursor fills in ${env:LEADSAGENT_API_KEY} from your environment.
    mcp.json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "leadsagent": {
          "url": "https://leadsagent.io/mcp/v1",
          "headers": {
            "X-API-Key": "${env:LEADSAGENT_API_KEY}"
          }
        }
      }
    }
  4. Restart Cursor, then check LeadsAgent is switched on under Customize in the sidebar.

Cursor — Terminal (CLI): sign in with LeadsAgent (recommended)

The Cursor CLI, the agent command. It reads the editor’s mcp.json files.

  1. Add this entry under mcpServers in ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (this project). If you already set it up in the editor, skip this step.
    mcp.json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "leadsagent": {
          "url": "https://leadsagent.io/mcp/v1"
        }
      }
    }
  2. Start sign-in.
    Terminal
    agent mcp login leadsagent
  3. A browser opens. Sign in with your LeadsAgent account and approve access.
  4. Check the tools are listed.
    Terminal
    agent mcp list-tools leadsagent

Cursor — Terminal (CLI): use an API key

  3. Add this entry to ~/.cursor/mcp.json or .cursor/mcp.json. Start agent from a terminal where LEADSAGENT_API_KEY is set.
    mcp.json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "leadsagent": {
          "url": "https://leadsagent.io/mcp/v1",
          "headers": {
            "X-API-Key": "${env:LEADSAGENT_API_KEY}"
          }
        }
      }
    }
  4. Check the tools are listed.
